Want British food in Hong Kong? Here are some of your best options

  • Fish and chips, fry-ups, shepherd’s pie, Scotch eggs – if you’re craving British food in Hong Kong, there are plenty of places to choose from
  • Gordon Ramsey’s restaurants aside, some of the best fare can be found at The Leah, Brick Lane, The Globe, The Chinnery and Padstow Restaurant

One of Hong Kong’s newest restaurants offers fantastic British comfort food. The Leah in Causeway Bay has dishes including chicken pie, beef short ribs that fall off the bone, and strawberry sherry trifle that were all tip-top when we went to review it.

If that has you craving British fare, here are some other options around town.

British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has somewhat cornered the market for British food in Hong Kong. Maze Grill in Harbour City does a fine Beef Wellington, as does Bread Street Kitchen on The Peak. For pub food, look no further than Ramsay’s London House in Tsim Sha Tsui East.

Besides Ramsay’s offerings, Brick Lane has four locations around town including in Admiralty that serve dishes like Guinness pie and full English breakfasts.

The Globe in Central, meanwhile, which describes itself as Hong Kong’s original gastropub, has items like black pudding and English pork Scotch egg, beer battered fish and chips, and old English pork sausages with mashed peas.

Also in Central, The Chinnery at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong – named after the 19th-century British artist George Chinnery – offers shepherd’s pie, lamb samosas and for dessert, Eton mess.
